A shooter opened fire at Michigan State University, killing three students and injuring five more. This incident led to a lengthy manhunt that lasted hours as terrified students sought safety in structures and vehicles.
Early reports on Tuesday indicated that the shooter ultimately committed suicide.
Authorities don’t know why 43-year-old Anthony McRae attacked the university.
He had no connection to the university and was neither a student nor an employee, according to campus police.
Police stated that the shooter opened fire in one building before creeping inside the other as they arrived and the suspect’s photograph was made public.
A student who was inside the building when the first shots were fired claimed to have seen the shooter for a split second.
At Michigan State University, the shooter was Anthony Dwayne McRae. The deadly shooter who killed three students and gravely injured five more on Tuesday at Michigan State University has been identified as 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae.
After being found dead at 11:35 p.m., just over three hours after he reportedly began firing, the shooter was identified by authorities.
Police did not provide a potential motivation in the early morning update on Tuesday, contrary to earlier statements that the murderer was not suspected to have any connection to the university.
