The FIFA World Cup 2022 has begun in Qatar. The tournament kicked off on November 20th, with Qatar facing Ecuador the first day. Despite having the home field advantage, Equador easily defeated the hosts, winning 2-0. With such a defeat, Qatar is now the only host country in FIFA World Cup heritage to lose.

Fans came from around the world to support their country, and most were disappointed by the decision to prohibit alcohol. The Qatari government has banned altogether the sale of alcoholic beverages in stadiums. The idea of bringing alcohol into football stadiums is just not new in European competitions; however, at the Qatar World Cup, fans were heard chanting “we want beer!”
