A explosion in Kabul has resulted in 10 deaths.
The United Nations mission said on Friday that 10 people had died as a result of a suicide bombing this week close the foreign ministry in the Afghan capital.
In an attack that was claimed by the regional branch of the jihadist Islamic State group, a bomber detonated himself on Wednesday close to the ministry in the city’s centre.
According to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan’s (UNAMA) findings, the strike resulted in at least 10 fatalities and 53 additional injuries.
It stated, “We are still investigating the issue.”
The Taliban authorities in Afghanistan, who frequently attempt to downplay incidents posing a threat to their rule, have claimed that five individuals were killed during the attack.
More than 40 injured persons were brought to Emergency, an Italian non-governmental organisation that operates a hospital in Kabul, after the attack. An end to the Taliban’s two-decade fight against US-led forces in August 2021 resulted in a major drop in violence, although security has started to erode recently.
